Herbs and leaves of plants have been used for centuries for medicine purposes, and now in modern days we have learned how to treat acne using green tea for acne breakouts, pimples, and blemishes.

Green tea is made from dried leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The use of the camellia sinensis plant can be traced back 5,000 years. Only the youngest buds of the tea plant are used which consists of two leaves and one bud. These light green to yellow-hued leaves are then steamed quickly after picking, rolled, and dried.

Tannic acid is a powerful substance in this green tea that is used to fight the bacteria that cause inflammation and pimples called P. acnes. Acne is an inflammatory process that can be treated with the use of an anti-inflammatory. Tannic acid is also called an antioxidant. Antioxidants can be used by the body to promote fast wound healing and helps nurture healthy skin tissue regeneration.

Green tea can also be found in a pill form and taken by mouth for acne prevention, and offers a safer method of pimple prevention by being as effective as benzoyl-containing products without being drying and tough on the skin.

Taking green tea internally is a great option when learning how to treat acne, as it is also a way to sit down and enjoy a beverage and destress. Use purified water and a tea bag or loose leaf green tea in a filter, place in a cup, and steep for no more than 3 minutes. This is the best way to serve green tea. To get the best nutritive benefits from green tea, omit the sugar and sip to your heart’s content. Letting the tea steep too long will cause a bitter taste, so be sure not to go beyond the 3 minutes for a truly enjoyable cup of tea.

The addition of a cup of green tea to your daily meals not only will aid in giving you healthy skin, but can also help fight cancer, and rejuvenate your body. One cup with breakfast, lunch, and dinner is all it takes to start on the road to healthy skin and a complexion that is out of this world. Next time you have a break out, instead of going to the doctor’s office for a prescription, or your local pharmacy for an expensive drying cream, try a nice hot cup of tea instead.

There’s a saying an apple a day keeps the doctor away. Try a cup of tea a day and see how it affects the frequency and severity of future acne breakouts. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that you have learned how to treat acne in a low cost and effective manner with the power-packed punch of green tea.

I’m 19 and a female. I used to get acne on my upper back and a little bit on my shoulders, but now I only get it every once in a while. I have some acne scars on my back. I would like to know if any of you have any recommendations for treating my acne scars. Also any help/advice on treating acne on my back. Preferably something not too expensive. Thanks for your help!

Back acne, or bacne is a common problem plaguing many acne sufferers. Acne, and especially on your back, is worsened by excessive sweat and the resultant congested pores. So the best advice that dermatologists can tender in this matter is to avoid tight-fitting clothes, especially in sultry weather. Remember, to prevent pimples and acne, always make time for taking frequent showers, particularly after a grinding day of work or workout regiment. When you have painful back acne, heavy backpacks are a definite ‘no-no’. They rub against your back and cause further swelling and redness.

During these times, carry a handbag and give your acne-assaulted back a rest. A good idea is to use a mild exfoliating agent when you shower. This will ensure that your back is scrupulously clean at all times and you keep away those ungainly and painful spots of pimples and acne. Since acne is caused by bacterial infection, it is important that apart from a cleaning regimen, you should follow tips to keep your back as germ-free as possible. This means that you need to wear clean and airy cotton clothes when you are working out. Also put a clean towel underneath your back before you lie down on any exercise machine or a mat.

Unknown to many, it is unwise to go to a steam room just after your workout. Anti-bacterial treatment like benzoyl peroxide is an effective acne cure and dermatologists often advice a dab of it after a bath. Particularly stubborn back and body acne, and especially those caused by the genes, however demand stricter measures. In this respect, oral antibiotics are popular remedies. However, oral medication is often said to have unpleasant side effects like depression. Back acne is more difficult to treat than acne on your face. Though the mode of treatment for facial and back acne are along similar lines, the latter in its severe form may require chemical exfoliation like glycolic acid peels.

The tips to get rid of back acne do not require much of an effort on your part. Follow them and boast of a smooth, clear back. thanks bye tc ..

One common complication that occurs to sever acne sufferers is the development of abscesses. An abscess is a large, deep, tender, hot, red nodule that surrounds several hair follicles and drains pus through several points to the skin surface.

Abscesses are extremely contagious and potentially serious, as they can lead to blood infection. They form only in areas where there are hair follicles, most often in the armpits and on the buttocks, face, scalp, neck, and trunk.

An abscess can be painful, especially if it is in a location that presses on nerves or bone. When an abscess heals, there is usually scarring. If an abscess ruptures, masses of pus and a core of harder material come out. People with abscesses quite commonly run fevers.

Acne Dermatologist of Manhattan Acne Dermatologist of NYC Dermatology New York Board Certified Dermatologist Acne is one of the most common of all skin problems. It affects most teenagers to some degree and even more adults. Acne shows up as whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and deep painful bumps that look like boils. Acne most commonly occurs on the face but can also appear on the neck, back, chest and shoulders. It is estimated that as many as 80% of people between 12 and 25 years of age suffer from acne. While in most people, acne clears up after few years, many suffer from permanent scarring of the skin. Even when there are few physical marks left, the emotional ones can be devastating. Acne problems are commonly faced by many young adults and teenagers today. Some people develop acne even at forties and fifties.

According to Dr. Rothfeld at NYC Dermatology, acne is believed to develop due to various factors like hormonal imbalance, sebum secretion, hereditary factors, and food habits. Inflammatory lesions in acne Inflammatory lesions in acne (pimples or zits) include small red bumps (papules), pustules, large red bumps (nodules) and cysts (these are fluctuant nodules). They are often painful. What is the cause of inflammatory acne? They usually result from rupture of the wall of the closed comedone but may arise from normal-appearing skin.

The factors contributing to inflammation are:

Bacteria Chemicals produced by Propionibacterium acnes diffuse into the surrounding skin (dermis) and attract white blood cells (polymorphonucleocytes and monocytes).

Immunological reaction For unknown reasons, the cells lining the sebaceous ducts also produce inflammatory mediators (IL-1a, IL-b and tumour necrosis factor) so pimples may occur in the absence of bacteria.

Foreign body reaction White blood cells (macrophages and giant cells) removing the debris may cause a more severe granulomatous inflammatory reaction.

Irritation by lipids Free fatty acids and sebum penetrate the dermis after the duct has ruptured

Hypersensitivity to P. acnes Hypersensitivity (allergy) to P. acnes is thought to be the cause of the severe skin condition, acne fulminans.

There are many treatment options for adult acne problems, but it is not mandatory that everyone gets cured. Dermatologists prescribe medicines taking skin care into concern. In many cases, blood and urine tests are taken, to test for any underlying causes. Severe acne patients are given antibiotics and very severe adult acne patients are treated with laser surgery, considering the seriousness of the problem. People suffering from acne should consult board certifed dermatologists like Dr. Gary Rothfeld and then undergo treatments that are suitable to them. Acne treatments are always done on the basis of severity of condition. Mild acne problems can be treated with topical products containing benzoyl peroxide, salicylic and glycolic acids. Some persistent acne patients may require systematic antibiotics like tetracycline, erythromycin, and acutane.

New methods like chemical peels and lasers are also included in the treatments to eradicate pimples and the marks present. Comedo extraction sometimes removing comedones proves beneficial. To extract whiteheads and blackheads, dermatologists use a sterile pen-sized device. This procedure should only be performed by a dermatologist. Patients attempts to extract comedones and drain cysts by squeezing or picking, can lead to worsening of the acne, scarring and infection. Tissue injured by squeezing or picking can become infected by staphylococci, streptococci and other bacteria.

Dr. Gary Rothfeld, a board certified dermatologist at NYC Dermatology performs this procedure personally. In many cases, acne cannot be cured completely, but can definitely be controlled in almost every case. Some basic steps need to be followed by adults. They should always touch their face gently, even when washing. Their diet should be as healthy as possible, and they should avoid oily or greasy foods whenever possible. Men should be careful while shaving using electric or ordinary razors, as these can negatively affect acne. http://www.dermatologistsnyc.com http://www.nycacne.org

Ok, so I would say my acne is moderate. It’s certainly not severe, and sometimes it even appears to be very mild. However there is pretty much always at least one zit on my face. Sometimes it’s just one that’s deep and protruding and others it’s several little bumps.

However my skin does not respond to any treatments well. I’ve tried epiduo, differin, benzaclin, acanya, ziana, many prescription washes, even oral antibiotic therapy and blue light.. Nothing. It does not respond. To top it off, my skin is ridiculously oily. I look greasy 24/7. I have been monitored by a dermatologist (one that no longer handles accutane patients) for quite some time and we have not made much progress. Sometimes I clear for a week and bam it’s back again. And nothing stops the oil!

This is why I want accutane. I think it’s time to find a dermatologist that will prescribe it for me. However I’m not sure if anyone will put me on it because my acne is really not cystic or nodular. It doesn’t appear to be terrible either, and I don’t (permanently) scar easy. I feel like there are almost microscopic little ice pick marks (no one else can really see them without getting close or a magnifying glass, but they’re there.) And without makeup, my face is full of red marks. I know PIH goes away, but I can’t stay clear long enough to even it out! I don’t want to worry about scarring or dealing with crappy skin forever! I cannot find relief with any prescription! And I don’t wanna have scars. Can I get someone to put me on accutane? Is it possible? I will pay whatever, do whatever, it doesn’t matter I’m just sick of this skin!!!!!

Pay whatever, that’s a good one, you do realize without insurance accutane is about $2500 per MONTH, over the course of a 6 month treatment that’s $15000, plus another $750ish for the pre and post blood work and Dr’s visits. I’m sure if you had an extra $16000 lying around you wouldn’t be on here, you’d have already gone to a Dr and had the problem cleared up.

This begs the question how long are you actually using these treatments, how regularly, are you using them correctly? I find it hard to believe that with only non cystic/nodular mild/moderate acne you can’t find something that works. I had horrible severe cystic acne and even I found products that helped (although I did need accutane).

As was said, there is a reason they only use it for the bad patients, it’s dangerous, people have literally died while taking this medication, some get harsh side effects (like hair loss, night blindness, etc) that DO NOT go away after stopping treatment. It’s also not a cure, it’s not as if you take this drug, go through hell (or not, my side effects were pretty mild by what my Dr said) and then you never have another zit. I’m having a break out right now, not bad, mostly caused by stress and a change in my birth control but you will still get zits from time to time. Not to mention the hoops the government makes you jump through to get it.

Perhaps, you should start looking at your lifestyle and see if you can’t make changes there, you said you’d get clear then break out, well why? Did you have stress that week? Did you eat something? Stop taking care of it for even one night?

One thing I would suggest is monthly facials, most spas have an acne facial, I found that even helped my skin. Really, there are other options besides trying to get a harsh drug you really don’t need and I would be wary of any Dr willing to prescribe it to you.
